13 First Date Ideas

First dates can be nerve-wracking for even the smoothest of players. According to statistics, almost 85% of second dates depend on the success of the first date. We have compiled a list of Must-Dos in order to have a successful first date.

1. Have a bath- you don’t want her to think you live like a pig.

2. Brush your teeth just before you leave- it is the No. 1 turn-off for women.

3. Smell nice (but not overpowering) - that is what women remember the most afterwards.

4. Dress well, but don’t overdo it. Pick from the classic basics, for most guys that means khakis, jeans or casual dress slacks.

5. Choose button-down shirts in blue, white or patterns. They pair up well with most pants and are attractive without being fussy. They layer well over a T-shirt and under a sweater, too.

 6. If you are going to pick her up, clean your car and make sure it smells nice.

7. Have a game plan! Don’t seem confused (you can use your creativity here- plan something both of you would like, if you belong to the non-creative circle then stick with the movie-dinner date).

8. Make sure the dinner place is not too fancy or too cheap. Both might make the girl a little uncomfortable. Don’t try something too exotic like Japanese or Greek food unless you know the girl is fond of it, or if you are knowledgeable about the cuisine.

9. Pay for dinner- if she insists; tell her you promise to let her pay next time.

 10. Prepare questions to ask. Asking about her likes and dislikes can be good conversation, but at times, it can be intimidating. For the first date, you can discuss something about the current events or sports events. Then once your date is relaxed, you can shift the conversation about getting to know each other.

11. The first kiss is very dicey, you will have to assess the situation, make a decision if you think she wont mind, else you can leave it for the next date. Under no circumstance should you beg her for a kiss. Try not to go for tongue-action directly (you will have plenty of other times to practice that, if you follow the steps).

 12. Carry protection. As the saying goes "It's better to be safe than sorry". Bring a condom on your first date, even if you do not anticipate or plan to have sex.

 13. Be yourself. Put your best foot forward on your first date without going overboard. Being true to yourself, as well as being honest and sincere is a good way to strengthen the relationship with your date, especially if you want to continue with the relationship.
